Japan entry procedure

  1. On an airplane or on board a passenger ship, fill out the documents required to enter the country.
  2. When arriving at a Japanese airport, first of all, go to the window for foreigners at the immigration counter (immigration office), present your passport and a completed entry / exit card.
  3. After the immigration officer explains the next steps, place the index fingers of both hands on the digital fingerprint reader. Fingerprint information will be read electromagnetically.
  4. A photograph of the face will be taken using the camera located on top of the fingerprint reader.
  5. The immigration officer will then conduct a brief interview.
  6. Upon completion of all the above procedures, obtain a passport from the immigration officer.
